In Essex, scaffolding hire normally means the scaffold is supplied, erected, inspected and dismantled for you by qualified scaffolders, for an agreed hire period. At Axis Scaffolding we hire scaffold as a complete, erected service. We do not generally supply materials for self-erection, because scaffold must be erected, altered and dismantled by competent people.
The scaffold tube, fittings, boards, guardrails and toe boards for your job, sized to your property.
CISRS-qualified operatives erect it to the agreed specification. A standard house is typically half a day to a full day.
A scaffold inspection certificate is handed over, with routine checks through the hire period.
We return to strike and clear the scaffold when your work is finished, and the dismantle is part of the hire.
Hire is usually priced for a set period, often two to four weeks for a domestic job, with longer periods for builds such as extensions. If your job overruns, extra weeks typically cost around £50–£150 each, so tell us your contractor's dates when you enquire and we will plan the hire around them. See how long scaffolding stays up for each type of job.
Not from us. HSE says scaffolds should be designed, erected, altered and dismantled only by competent people, under the direction of a competent supervisor. That is why our hire includes qualified erection and dismantling.
A highway licence, where scaffold is on or over a pavement, is a separate cost, and the scaffolding contractor applies for it (see our licence guide). Extra weeks and alterations during the hire are quoted separately.
We are based in Rayleigh and cover Rayleigh, Southend, Benfleet, Basildon, Chelmsford and the rest of South Essex. For typical prices, see the scaffolding cost guide.
