Commercial and Industrial Scaffolding in Essex: What a Contractor Needs

What builders, developers and property managers should expect from a scaffolding contractor on a commercial or industrial job.

The Short Answer

A commercial or industrial scaffold should come with a site survey, risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), qualified erection, inspections and a handover certificate, and a programme that matches yours. Axis Scaffolding provides RAMS on request and quotes commercial and industrial work individually after a survey.

What a Commercial Job Needs

Site survey and design

Access, scale and loading are assessed before a quotation, so the scaffold is designed for the building, not guessed.

RAMS

Risk assessments and method statements are available on request, and can be tailored to your principal contractor's requirements.

Inspections and handover

HSE says a scaffold from which a person might fall 2 metres or more needs a competent person's inspection on completion and at least weekly. We hand over an inspection certificate.

Loading bays and access

Where materials must reach height, loading bays can be integrated at any stage of the scaffold.

Programme and hire

Long-term hire can match your programme, with planned erection and strike dates.

Licences

If scaffold is on or over a pavement, a highway licence is needed and the contractor applies for it.

Bespoke design

For specialised jobs where a standard scaffold configuration will not do, a bespoke scaffold design can be produced. Standard jobs do not need one.

Who We Work With

Builders, principal contractors, developers, property managers and the owners of offices, retail units, schools and industrial buildings. Commercial and industrial jobs are priced individually after a survey, because size, height, access and duration vary so much.

See our commercial scaffolding, industrial scaffolding, loading bay and supply and erection pages, or our builders and contractors page. We cover Southend, Chelmsford, Basildon, Rayleigh and the rest of Essex.
