Safety and Regulations

What the rules say about this job, and how a properly built scaffold meets them.

Plan the access first

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require work at height to be properly planned, supervised and carried out by competent people. For awkward jobs the planning is most of the job.

Inspected on completion and at least weekly

HSE says a scaffold from which a person might fall 2 metres or more needs a report by a competent person on completion and at least weekly, and after bad weather or modification.

Edge protection on roofs

HSE says sloping roofs require scaffolding to prevent people or materials falling from the edge, with edge protection at the eaves.

Pavement scaffolds need a licence

Scaffold on or over a pavement needs a licence from the highway authority, applied for by the contractor: Essex Highways, Southend-on-Sea City Council or Thurrock Council depending on where the job is.

How Long Does It Take?

Specialist jobs vary, so we give timings after we have assessed the job. Tell us the date you need access by and what the scaffold must do, and we will say what is possible.

Pricing

Access and specialist scaffolding is priced individually once we have assessed access, height and duration, because no two specialised jobs are the same.

How It Works

  1. Describe the job

Call 01702 820468 or send photos and the address. Tell us what needs access and by when.

  2. We assess

We look at access, ground, height and loading, and decide whether a standard scaffold will do or a bespoke design is needed.

  3. Clear quote

You receive an itemised, no-obligation quote.

  4. Built and handed over

CISRS-qualified operatives erect the scaffold and hand over an inspection certificate.

  5. Checked and struck

The scaffold is checked through the hire and dismantled when you finish.
